Soviet interiors brought up in us the concept of practicality of the environment for so long, that now, doing repairs we, involuntarily, repeat what we have been accustomed to since childhood. Let’s dispel the most common myths about impractical interiors and learn how to create a new environment.
Have you ever thought about why our window sills are narrow? Generally speaking, the width of the window sill does not affect the space of the room at all. But if there is no benefit from a narrow window sill, a wide one can be turned into a stylish table for tea drinking, a working area or just a beautiful flower garden. It is better to order a window sill made of wood – it is cozy and really comfortable.
Myth 2. Always the same styled sofa and chairs.
What is the practicality of the same styled furniture? If you think about it, it is only in the simplicity of choice. You’ve bought a ready set – that’s all. Furniture, similar in style, but in different colors or with different details looks much more interesting. It is such a suit that is practical: it is more versatile; it is easier to select additional elements in the interior. And then, if one piece of furniture suddenly deteriorates, it can be replaced easily, because it is difficult to find a similar model from the headset.
Myth 3. Same set for bedrooms.
A bed, two bedside-tables, a wardrobe. Questionless, this filling of the bedrooms is useful, but is it worse to replace the boring bedside-tables with several hanging shelves? Or, instead of a wardrobe, arrange a built-in wardrobe under the bed. It does not take a place, and things are in order.
Myth 4. Built-in furniture to save space.
Yes, the built-in furniture is comfortable. But it also has its own shortcomings. Monolithic furniture wall does not allow any movement in space. In addition, it is not as compact as it seems. Choose modular furniture. Thanks to the modules, you can assemble any set of lockers you like and change interior. By the way, they are easy to move around the room. The module is practical.
Myth 5. Only tiles in the kitchen.
By most accounts, tiles – it is only one floor covering for the kitchens, which can be washed easily. But, agree, a room with a linoleum or laminate looks much more comfortable. You can apply a tile just in the path along the desktop, which is most polluted and use other materials for the center of the kitchen. It is both practical, and beautiful, and cozy.
Myth 6. The more complicated the kitchen furniture, the more functional it is.
No. It is not necessarily to fill the entire kitchen space with the furniture. The housewives use a lot of electrical appliances now, which are quite comfortable with hanging shelves and sockets. Why is that, to encumber space? Use the spacious floor cabinets and hinged or sliding shelves for technology in the kitchen. Be sure to select a place for a comfortable dining area.
Myth 7. Lonely big chandelier.
It seems like everything is clear: switched on – and get enough light. But in fact, if the light source is in one place, then this only one highlights place of the room. It does not matter how many bulbs are on the chandelier. It is much better if you have a few additional lamps in the room. Choose wall lights. You can switch them on in the part of the room where you are. This also takes less electricity than a large chandelier.
Myth 8. The TV is in the center.
Of course, when the blue screen was available not for everyone, this interior had a sense. Now a dining table, a table where you play table games or even just an original reading chair must be in the center of the room. Home theater looks more comfortable in a secluded corner, without cluttering the main part of the premises and leaving space for the organization of other zones.
It is not all that impractical as it seems at first view. Sometimes even unexpected changes and tricks in the interior can create a practical and unusual environment.
